BAIRD Ellen Forrest
Nee Scott(1873 - 1955) Lived on Rottnest island where husband was lighthouse keeper. Assisted in care of prisoners on island for nine years. In 1907 at Cape Naturaliste nursed 13 sick seamen who had rowed across ocean for 21 days after ship wrecked. Made considerable contribution to war effort during WW1
BAIRD Kathleen
1915 Member of the family who owned one of Western Australia's most successful retail trading chains and department store in Perth. (Bairds Limited) Attended Presbyterian Ladies College and later did Arts Degree at University. Served the community through the Girl Guide Movement, coaching PLC students and just helping in various neighborhood activities. After the war worked for two years in displaced persons camps in Europe and later for the Red Cross. Lived in Peppermint Grove all her life.
BAIRD Margaret
Leader in nurse education in Western Australia who developed and introduced tertiary education for nurses. Inaugural Dean and Head of School, Edith Cowan University. Active leadership in Royal Australian Nurses Federation, including President of Western Australia.
