William Baird - Auchmedden

Born 30th August 1701 Auchmedden, Aberdeenshire to William Baird and Mary Gordon. He married Anne Duff, 1720 sister to the Earl of Duff. They had ten children, William died in 1775.

Lord Haddo

Son of the, 3rd Earl of Aberdeen, George married Charlotte Baird, daughter of William Baird of Newbyth. In 1791 he was killed by a fall from his horse. Charlotte then went to England to live.

General Sir David Baird

Born in 1757 at Newbyth, to William Baird and Alicia Johnston, he lead battles in India, Egypt, and South Africa. In 1804 he received a knighthood and died in 1829 at Creiff.

Sir James Gardiner Baird

Lt Colonel Commandant, Sir James Gardiner Baird, 6th Bart Saughton Hall. Commanded the East Lothian Yeomanry Cavalry regiment from its embodiment in 1797. died 1830.

William Baird - Gartsherrie

William was born in 1796, worked in the iron industry, then became a member of parliament. Married in 1840, to Janet Johnston of Gartcloss, and acquired the estate of Elie in Fife. died 1864

John Baird - Architect

Born Dalmuir, Dumbartonshire in 1798. He became a renowned Architect in Glasgow. Designs included Claremont House, Prince's Building. He died Dec 1859 leaving a wife and 2 daughters.

Nichol Hugh Baird - Engineer

Born 26 Aug 1796, Glasgow, to Hugh Nicol Baird and Margaret Burthwaite. Engineer and worked with his father on Forth & Clyde and Union Canals, Scotland, went to Montreal 1828 d. 20 Aug 1847.

Mary (Telfer) Baird Canada

Daughter of builder Andrew White of Montreal, Mary was born after 1808, and married engineer Nicol Hugh Baird, 21 Sep 1831 in Ottawa, 1855. died 20 Aug 1847

Alexander Baird - Urie

Born at Kirkwood 29th Dec, 1799. He was the director of the Forth and Clyde Canal, and purchased the estate of Urie 1854, he died unmarried in London, 2nd March 1862
