Bairds of Scotland

In this section you will find a collection of births, and marriages for Scotland from 1597 to the 1800's. In the completed counties [shires] you will also find census, deaths, articles, biographies, and other resources. Also many thanks to the late Iain Kerr Ayrshire, Norma from Midlothian FHS, and the Largs & North Ayrshire FHS, Baird Ferguson from East Kilbride, Friends of Dundee City Archives and many others who have contributed to this collection.

It has taken some time to finish one county those finished to date have an asterisk* beside them, hopefully the others will soon be done.
Every county in Scotland was subdivided for administration and record-keeping into Parishes or Districts. The names of the Scottish counties used in 16th to 20th century records are shown below. Some counties have different names today:

Haddington is now East Lothian, Linlithgow is now West Lothian, Edinburgh is now Midlothian, Forfar is now Angus and Elgin is now Moray.
